October 27th from 1:00–2:30 pm we will
have our next virtual event with Greg Howell
Location: Your computer
We will have the ability to
host about 10 “stations” or offices— possibly
more. Our agenda will be a 10-15 minute overview on new developments
with lean construction in the world, and then we will get
right into how to use the various stages of the planning system,
from the pull phase event through to weekly work planning.
We will connect via the Internet for the visual, and conference
call for the audio. It would be very helpful for attendees
to have read everything available on my site http://www.gregoryneilassociates.com/Articles.html
prior to the call.
We will have only 90 minutes, so this will move fast with
the intention of going as deeply as we can into the planning
system itself.
There is no charge for this event.
RSVP by emailing Greg@GregoryNeilAssociates.com
and you will then receive more details on how to participate.
New
Design Group for
Project Management Community
I
am inviting you to participate in a focused conversation to
improve on the way projects are managed. We will explore current
practice with the commitment to invent and design better practices
for the industry. We will do this through both live and virtual
events held 4 times a year. I will provide us with a variety
of speakers giving us a view to other levels of construction,
allowing us to learn from the similarities and differences.
We will develop a Bay Area community, and link our community
to the larger international community that has been studying
this problem for over 10 years. This is a very great opportunity
for us to discover what’s happening in the world outside
our Bay Area world. This is also an opportunity to see into
the world of the people around us, and learn from the wisdom
of the group. I am inspired to do this because of already
existing groups here in the Bay Area that have been meeting
for many years. I’m told they are companies that would
otherwise be competing with each because of their close proximity
to each other, and the fact that they are doing the same kind
of work in the same market. Confidentiality and trust may
be one of the first things we will have the opportunity to
learn about.
The
intention is for this to be a serious inquiry into project
management, and that the more people thinking together about
it, the more likely we will be able to achieve something useful
to improve current practice. My purpose in doing this is motivated
from traveling from one company to another for the last 10
years and hearing the same problems. I recognize that the
answers are not with any one of us, that it will take many
of us thinking together to come up with a new set of practices
that actually work for many or most.
I
have launched a blog site to host the conversations and invite
you to take a look, and offer your comments
